Anode will look for Group 1 glory in the Champagne Stakes where he will step up to a mile for the first time under the guidance of Adam Hyeronimus.

Gai's Tip Sheet

SATURDAY 20TH APRIL - RANDWICKRail Position: RAIL - +7m 1000m-W/Post, +5m RemainderGOLDMAN (Race 6, 2.25pm, 2000m, R Bayliss, 55.5kg)Goldman is in fantastic shape ahead of his return on Saturday. We have been extremely pleased with his two trials this time in and he powered through the line in great shape on both occasions. These trials have given him a good fitness foundation to tackle the 2000 metres first-up, and he has been delighting us with his recent trackwork. He has also been enjoying several trips away to the beach of late where he has been swimming in the ocean and enjoying a role in the sand. These trips appear to do him the world of good and he thoroughly enjoys his ocean swims and the change of scenery. Regan will be positive from barrier 2 to get him rolling along into the lead, or close to it. We expect him to continue to improve with the benefit of a run under his belt and as he stretches out over further this preparation. However, with that said he is fit enough to do himself justice and he will be in it for a long way.ANODE (Race 7, 3pm, 1600m, A Hyeronimus, 56.5kg)Anode was a bit disappointing in the Group 1 Sires' produce last time. However, he wasn’t beaten that far at the line and the heavy underfoot conditions weren't ideal for him. Prior to that he'd been a model of consistency so far this preparation, and he continues to hold his condition extremely well despite the long campaign so he is as tough as they come. He didn’t seem to love the heavy track conditions last time, and Randwick's rated a Soft 5 at the time of writing which will be much more suitable. He has drawn well in barrier 3, so Adam will be positive from the gates to try and take luck out of the equation. The rise in distance to 1600 metres is an unknown, but he's a relaxed horse who promises to see it out so we hope it will bring about the improvement that he requires to get back into the Winner’s Circle here. It's a small field and outside of Manaal it's an open contest, so we hope to see him challenging at the finish. COIN TOSS (Race 9, 4.20pm, 1400m, T Clark, 58kg)Coin Toss ran a solid race in his most recent outing in Group 3 company three weeks ago. He wasn’t beaten far at the line despite the heavy underfoot condition and has come through the race in super shape. He is holding his condition extremely well and his coat is blossoming ahead of this intended assignment. He schooled over hurdles this week which is something we often do to alter the horses' routines and to switch them on mentally. It really appeared to have the desired effect with your gelding and he was full off himself afterwards. He didn’t seem to love the heavy track conditions in his most recent start, and Randwick is currently rated a Soft 5 which will be much more to his liking. He has the gate speed to overcome his wide draw in barrier 12 and Tim will be positive from there to get him rolling into a prominent position, on or just behind the speed. He returns to 1400 metres here following him dominant first-up win over this distance and we expect him to give another bold show and them all something to catch in this contest.KIBOU (Race 10, 4.55pm, 1200m, R Bayliss, 59kg)Kibou is in excellent order ahead of his reappearance on Saturday and is a picture of health at present. He showed good improvement from his first to second trial and found the line strongly alongside some talented horses. He hasn’t put a foot wrong since and is nicely muscled ahead of this reappearance. The 1200 metres is a lovely starting point and whilst barrier 13 isn't ideal, he's got the gate speed to hopefully roll forward and get across into a more favourable inside position where he can settle into a good rhythm on or just behind the speed. He’s got a fantastic first-up record, so whilst we think there's improvement to come as he stretches out over further later in his preparation he's forward enough to be fighting out the finish. RISE OF THE MASSES (Race 10, 4.55pm, 1200m, A Hyeronimus, 56.5kg)Rise Of the Masses looks super ahead of his first start this campaign and he has been progressing nicely since his most recent trial at Randwick two weeks ago. He has three trials under his belt this time in and these trials have given him a good base level of fitness to work from ahead of this reappearance. We were pleased with his gallop in the lead up to this race on Tuesday morning and he is nicely muscled at this stage of his preparation. The 1200 metres here is a good starting point and Adam will be positive from barrier 7 to get him rolling along into a position where he can travel comfortably. We expect him to improve as he gets deeper into the preparation and as he stretches out over further. With that said, he is fit enough to do himself justice and with even luck in running we expect him to be doing his best work at the finish to get his preparation off to an encouraging start.SATURDAY 20TH APRIL – KEMBLA GRANGERail Position: RAIL - +9m 1100m-W/Post, +7m RemainderMONTY THE MISSILE (Race 2, 1pm, 1500m, A McLucas, 59kg)Monty The Missile ran a super race first-up in testing conditions over a trip that we feel will prove to be short of his best. He has taken nice improvement in his track work since and appears to be sharper and tighter in condition. We expect the rise in distance to 1500 metres here to bring about further improvement, and it should enable him to get into a much better rhythm. He will appreciate the sounder underfoot conditions predicted tomorrow as it's currently rated a Good 4, and the expansive track and long home straight at Kembla will play to his strengths. Amy will be positive from barrier 4 to get him rolling along into the lead, or close to it, and whilst we expect him to benefit from further race experience he’s open to plenty of improvement second-up and it will take a good one to run him down.INVINCIBLE SPY (Race 7, 4.05pm, 1200m, A McLucas, 60.5kg)Invincible Spy looks super ahead of his first start this campaign and he has been progressing nicely since his most recent trial at Randwick two weeks ago. He was excellent last campaign securing two terrific victories, which is extremely hard to do, and he is nicely muscled ahead of this intended assignment. We were pleased with his gallop in the lead up to the race on Tuesday morning and the 1200 metres looks a good starting point, despite being on the sharp side for him. Nevertheless, the expansive track and long home straight at Kembla will suit him down to the ground and Amy will be positive from barrier 4 to try and make their own luck on or near the speed. It's extremely difficult for three year olds to take on older horses in these races, but it's getting later in the season and Amy takes a handy 2kg off his back. It's very much a starting point for him, so we expect him to take significant improvement from the run. There are nice races for him back against his own age group once he gets deeper into his preparation, however he's a talented colt and we still expect to see a forward showing here.
